Unveiling 2026 Weekly Class Themes at LAB Art Studios!

January – February: Studio Ghibli-Inspired Blind Boxes & Woodland Creatures

We’re starting the year with a little magic and a lot of whimsy! Inspired by the storytelling charm of Studio Ghibli, students will design their own collectible blind-box characters, create gentle woodland creatures, and explore themes of nature, imagination, and friendship. Expect charming creatures, tiny surprises, and plenty of soft, dreamy colours!

March – April: Eric Carle — Hungry, Hungry Me & Metamorphosis

Our spring season bursts with bright textures and bold colours straight from the world of Eric Carle. Students will dive into his playful collage techniques—painting, cutting, layering, and transforming simple shapes into lively characters. With themes like hunger, growth, and metamorphosis, this unit is perfect for young learners exploring storytelling through art.

May – June: Hilma af Klint — Rainbow City & Colour Wheels

Time to turn up the colour! Inspired by visionary painter Hilma af Klint, students will create abstract compositions, rainbow cities, and expressive colour wheels that explore symbolism, geometry, and emotion. This theme is all about thinking beyond what we see and letting colour lead the way.

July – August: Pop Art Series — Ice Cream Shop & What’s in Your Fridge?

Summer calls for bright colours and cool treats! Our Pop Art series invites students to play with bold outlines, comic-style textures, and everyday objects turned into art. Whether designing their own ice cream shop or painting the quirky contents of a fridge, kids will experiment with exaggeration, humor, and high-energy visuals inspired by classic Pop Art fun.

September – October: Gustav Klimt — Swirling Trees & Magical Autumn

Autumn brings golden leaves—and golden art! Inspired by Gustav Klimt’s iconic patterns and swirling shapes, students will explore decorative art, mosaic textures, and the beauty of trees in transition. Expect shimmering details, rich colours, and artworks that feel magical and earthy all at once.

November – December: Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland Characters & Tea Party

We close the year with a whimsical journey down the rabbit hole! Students will create quirky Wonderland characters, playful pattern-filled backgrounds, and a mixed-media tea party scene inspired by Lewis Carroll’s imaginative world. Perfect for ending the year with curiosity, humour, and a dash of surreal fun.
