Embark on an artistic expedition to the frosty Arctic! Our Arctic Adventures camp (Dec 16-20) is perfect for young explorers aged 3 to 15 who are ready to be inspired by icy landscapes, playful polar wildlife, and the beauty of nature.
A Frozen Wonderland Awaits!
Throughout the week, our students will channel the majesty of the Arctic into their artistic creations. Whether they’re painting serene snowy vistas or sculpting adorable penguins, every day promises a flurry of creativity.
Here’s what your child(ren) can look forward to:
Landscape Painting: Students will paint snowy tundras, Northern Lights skies, and icy oceans, learning techniques to convey the stunning chill and serenity of Arctic scenes.
Polar Wildlife Sculptures: Kids will sculpt life-like or imaginative Arctic animals from their choosing: polar bears, penguins, seals, and more out of clay.
Textile/ Multimedia Art: Using elements like faux snow, wools and sparkles, campers will build Arctic dioramas to bring their icy visions to life.
Creative Writing and Illustration: Students will draw inspiration from Chris Van Allsburg's The Polar Express and write from their own perspective as they board the train to the North Pole. They will also create illustrations to accompany their stories, blending visual and narrative art for a truly creative experience.
Fine Arts Drawing Techniques: Budding artists will refine their skills in drawing Arctic animals, icy landscapes, and Northern Lights, focusing on perspective, texture, and contrast to bring their frosty subjects to life.
Science + Art Exploration: Through hands-on activities, students will create art inspired by the Arctic’s natural wonders, such as iceberg models and also learn the science (or magic) behind the Aurora Borealis!
Held in the scenic locales of Steveston Richmond, Kerrisdale, and Point Grey, this week of winter fun runs from December 16–20, with classes starting at 9:00 or 10:00 AM and wrapping up by 3:00 PM.
