LAB Art Studios 2024: A Year of Artistic Adventures, Doodles, and Delightful Discoveries!

As 2024 draws to a close, let’s take a step back and brush off the dust to celebrate all the masterpieces, magic, and messes that we’ve made at LAB Art Studios this year! From bubble tea parties to mountain-inspired masterpieces, it’s been a palette of fun!

Happy New Year @ LAB Art Studios!
Happy 2025! Love, the LAB Friends!

We Got Crafty at LAB Art Studios

Look at all the wonderful work we made during our Weekly Classes, Camps and Parties! Aside from the obvious skills of turning glitter into everywhere, we're diving into the worlds of colour, creativity, and critical thinking! With every brushstroke and sculpture, our young artists become more confident, collaborative, and, yes, a little more covered in paint!

In January, we had an Andy Warhol-inspired New Year's: A Pop Art Party!

We kicked off the year with a bang (and a pop of color) by channeling Andy Warhol! Our kids dabbled in bold, bright, and repetitive art, creating works inspired by his famous Campbell’s soup cans and portraits of celebs. Who knew New Year’s could be so POP-ular? A true start to a year of vibrant visual excitement!

In the Spring, we explored Yoshitomo Nara's Funny Selfies!

Next, we went for a playful twist with a theme inspired by the quizzical and cute world of Yoshitomo Nara. Our little artists explored the world of “selfies” with big-eyed characters and cheeky, charming faces. Talk about friendship goals… or maybe just some mischievous, mini portraits! We also had a blast opening up our third location: LAB Kerrisdale for you all! So happy to have Spring Camps introduced at our newest studio.

Next we hosted Wayne Thiebaud’s Bubble Tea Party, and had A Dim Sum Date!

When you think of sweet, we don’t just mean dessert—we mean the delightful theme we crafted with Wayne Thiebaud’s colorful, confectionery-inspired art! From cake-filled dreams to a bubble tea party, our studio turned into a sugar-fueled art extravaganza. Who knew dim sum and dip-dye techniques could go so hand-in-hand? We also had a record of birthday parties at all our studios :D

Summer holiday rolls along A Picnic at the Park and Beach Day Vibes with George Seurat!

Sunshine, sandwiches, and Seurat—our "pointillist" picnic-inspired class was a dot of perfection! Kids experimented with tiny dots to create massive, full-bodied images, channeling Seurat’s techniques while imagining a lazy, beachy afternoon. What better way to bring together dots, thoughts, and sunshine? Summer Camps were also such a crazy creative time at all our studios as we explored 11 different Art Eras!

Back to School time brought upon our exploration with Mini Modern Museums!

Who says museums have to be huge? Our tiny, modern masterpieces made in mini-museums were big on creativity and full of fascinating flair. From cubism to surrealism, our young artists packed their own mini museums with style, elegance, and some serious brushstrokes. Talk about a pint-sized Picasso in the making! We also had a good spooky season during Halloween at our studios.

In the Winter, we skied down Majestic Mountains to our Winter Cabins: A Cozy, Creative Escape

Finally, to close out the year, we channeled winter vibes with majestic mountains and cozy cabins. With snow-capped peaks and toasty interiors, kids wrapped up the year creating winter wonderlands where imagination and chilly air mixed like hot cocoa and marshmallows. And right now, our kids are having festive fun during our Winter Camps. What a cool way to finish off the year of art!

... And That’s a Wrap on 2024!

From Warhol-worthy wonders to Seurat-sized splashes of colour, LAB Art Studios was a place of discovery, growth, and creative connection in 2024. Whether it was our kids mastering new techniques or unleashing their own imagination, we’ve been blown away by their art—and we can’t wait for what’s next in 2025! So here’s to more paint splashes, more masterpieces, and lots more fun!

Happy New Year, and keep on creating!
