New Weekly Class Theme: Thomas Kinkade-inspired Fantasy Winters and Family Cottages @ LAB Art Studios Vancouver

As the New Year unfolds, LAB Art Studios invite young artists to embark on an enchanting artistic journey with two delightful themes: “Fantasy Winters” in January and “Family Cottage” in February. Inspired by the dreamy, storybook-like works of American painter, Thomas Kinkade, these sessions promise to transport children into imaginative realms filled with whimsy, warmth, and wonder.

A Storybook Winter Wonderland

Students will explore how to bring fantastical scenes to life through vibrant colours, soft glowing light, and rich textures. From snowy castles and villages glowing with magical warmth to cottages straight out of a fairy tale, our young artists will learn to weave their creativity into every piece.

About the Artist

Known as the "Painter of Light," Thomas Kinkade is one of the most beloved artists of today (and one of Messy Jessy's all-time favourite). His artwork, characterized by its glowing light effects and serene, storybook-like landscapes, captures the magic of nostalgia and fantasy. Beyond his iconic paintings of cozy cottages, idyllic gardens, and radiant cityscapes, Kinkade also collaborated with Disney, creating enchanting illustrations inspired by classic tales such as Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King.

Fun Facts About Thomas Kinkade

  • Kinkade’s art is displayed in over 10 million homes worldwide, making him one of the most collected artists in history.

  • He often included hidden symbols in his paintings, such as his wife’s initials or Christian imagery, adding a personal touch to his work.

  • Kinkade believed in making art accessible to everyone, which is why he focused on themes that evoke warmth, hope, and joy.
